About the event

The public is invited to a panel discussion on the future of American scientific research titled “Now What for the Science Community?” The discussion will be offered Tuesday July 29 at 5:30 in the Madden Center on the Sea Education Association (SEA) campus (171 Woods Hole Rd)


Organized by former scientists and administrators who once worked in Woods Hole, the discussion will be moderated by Brandon Jones, President of the American Geophysical Union.


The panel discussion will examine the question of how American science might be organized in the current era, and in particular how leadership might be intentional about structuring the science enterprise (research and education) such that it becomes inclusive of all demographics in our changing country.


The discussion is offered in lieu of the annual Dr. Ambrose Jearld, Jr lecture that was hosted by the Woods Hole science institutions from 2017 through 2024.
